True, but they serve those nugget things (which are "what's for lunch"
today at my son's elementary school), and turkey nuggets would be just
as easy to fry.
My objection to turkey legs is those tendons. Plus, I don't like them
anywhere near as well as chicken legs, which I adore.

I think I'll go by Popeye's today. Their "spicy" is pretty good.

I just heard on NPR that a blind woman was playing golf in the rain,
and she hit a hole-in-one.

corn...and they have three cheeses - and of course they have the

i don't normally like KFC because i don't think their chicken is
cooked all the way - but they got a winner with those mash potato bowls

No one can argue with your taste and likes and dislikes, but just in
case there is some reader out there who might be thinking of trying
this on your recommendation, I'd like to point out that:

* the mashed potatoes are reconstituted from dehydrated flakes,
not mashed from real potatoes.
* the gravy is from a powdered mix, flavored mostly with salt
and msg.
* the half ear of corn was boiled to death hours ago and kept
hot under a lamp.
* the cheese-type foods are unidentifiable.
* the chicken nuggets are reformed and compressed together from
scraps, fragments and flakes, not cut from any known part of the
chicken.

original recipe' as a guilty pleasure, even though the original
mixture of spices is long gone. Never touch any of those awful side

I too go there about once a year but last year I walked in and when I
saw that almost every customer there weighed in excess of 300 pounds I
walked out never to return again.

These are what I don't get about KFC, people say how much
they like the mashed potatoes and gravy. Every time I try it
I just wonder Why.

Same here, original recipe bucket or box of chicken. There is no
KFC near my house any more, I wonder how far I have to
go to find one.

As I recall, the cole slaw had and appeal of its own.

Everything you just said. Their sides are awful.
Church's sides are just as bad. Popeye's, on the other hand, has some

I like the Orig rec chicken too, but it's awfully expensive, and
sickeningly greasy. The ex crispy is flavorless.

Yes, people get their tallywhackers smacked undeservedly sometimes in
chi.eats, but help is usually there eventually.

Judgemental extremism is just going to reflect on the whole stl.drining
group.

I can't stomach the mashed spuds, chicken or cole slaw slaw from KFC. I
do prefer the cole slaw and chicken from Chicken Delight a different
chain. Perhaps there is a popeyes or some other chain you would like
better than KFC in your area.

It is that the food coloured ground slaw and the instant mashed spuds
turn me off. Plus the lack of flavour in their chicken has turned me off
KFC. The 'Irish Spring' green of their slaw I find truly disgusting.

Chicken Delight uses shredded veggies and a oil based dressing in their
slaw.You can actually see some carrot shreds. And they use a little
garlic seasoning in their chicken batter.

I can forgive them on the instant mashed spuds, because I prefer fries
with my fried chicken so it affects me not.

But nobody has touched upon the gastly thing KFC calls chicken gravy. A
must for me ...my Chicken Delight gravy goes on my Chicken Delight fries.

When I'm in Chicago, I eat at taquerias every day. Jeez, great
burritos are everywhere, except the North Shore (the one consolation
there is that you have the privilege of waiting overlong to get
breakfast at Walker Bros). I wish we'd get a few of those mom&pop
burrito joints here.

people are funny...

today there were these two really huge women in the cafeteria, and one
walked past the steam tables and was complaining to her friend, "they got
too many vegetables".

I saw them at their table later, and they had chicken nuggets, chili, lots
and lots of packs of saltines, a big chocochip cookie, and one lady had
both one of those giant 3 serving Arizona Iced Teas in a can, AND a
"fountain drink".

1. Don't any of you people eat at Brown's Chicken? Or did they go out
of business?
2. The last time I had good chicken from KFC was in 1967, in Canada.
It was not as yet called Poulet Frit de Kentucky.
3. KFC sides have been nasty reconstituted [censored] since at least 1970
4. Popeye's spicy is decent except when it isn't.

gives a good indication of how many folks read it. I imagine the
proportion of people who register on GoogleGroups is fairly similar
for most NGs. Heck, I'm the #1 all time poster there, with only 199

Put another way, I think there are (x-posts excepted) only about 15-20
people who have posted there in the last year.

though, and add some peas. Mashed potatoes, with a layer of gravy, some
chunks of turkey meat, and vegetables is really not bad.
