John - those aren't training bumpers. They will be good for things
like
deadlifting, but you wouldn't want to drop them from overhead very
often.

How can you tell?
For the original poster: www.biggerfasterstronger.com
They are having a bumper plate sale but, as of two weeks ago, the
selection
was
limited.
They may have some left.

Training bumpers don't have just a rubber rim.
I bought all-rubber plates made by CAP a few years ago and have been
very pleased with them. The downside is that they're thick, so the 45's
are as thick as 2-3 regular 45's, which could be a problem if you put a
lot of weight on the bar, but for me, they're fine. The 25 lb. plates
are very nice in that they're about the same size, including exactly the
same diameter, as regular 45's, which means, e.g., my wife can deadlift
using them and get the same reach to the bar while using a lighter
weight. A quick Google found these:
http://store.yahoo.com/gofitness/capbarrubpla.html
which I'm pretty sure are the ones I've got. They're not cheap compared
to regular Oly plates but they're sure a lot cheaper than Eleiko
training weights, which are something like $400-500 for a pair of 45's.
The CAP all-rubber plates were about $2/pound, I think.
