Tried them out on the way home and was amazed at the bright, crisp, clear image. These binoculars are very good and ridiciculously so at this price. For 10*50 they are also fairly stable when viewing - perhaps the weight helps stabilise them.
Looked at goldfinches 40 ft away on our feeder and was very impressed with the colour and resolution... and this was through a double glazed window so they are even better outside.
Meade have made quality optics for many years and it certainly shows ! I was soooooo impressed that I went straight back and bought a spare pair.
Bak 4 prisms, fully coated lenses and a 5 year guarantee >:-)

Just purchased a pair for £5 (under offer with £6 of petrol) from Texaco. More than pleased. Not as good as the ones I paid £50 but the £50 pair are not 10 times better.

You live near Buckie? I worked for 17 years for Thorn Lighting who had an office in Buckie. I always thought it sounded very remote and exotic. <g> Unfortunately I have a quite a big health problem at the moment and my cousin took me to get my pair, otherwise I would get you some in a flash. I am very pleased with my pair. Perhaps someone else will get you some and post them to you. I can't drive at the moment otherwise I would get a couple of pairs for you and post them on.

Yes. What I do is I attach a small portable tripod (I have one about 6" high that has a threadded hole in the base) with a swivel head to the binoculars and then attach the threaded base of that to a monopod, this creates a fully adjustable mount on the monopod and the extra few inches on the monopod are great for a lanky git like me.

I have found a shortcoming with these bins. (I knew there must be one if I looked very hard.) On a walk today I saw something small scurrying around the undergrowth. Not wanting to disturb it by getting too close I tried to use my new bins to find that it would not focus in less than about 15 feet so I had to borrow my wife's bins to look at what turned out to be a short tailed vole.

I got a pair yesterday, and have to say these are the best bins I've ever bought. The image is superbly bright and clear, probably helped by the very large eye piece lenses. They actually feel like binoculars that should cost four times as much to me.
I did get a pair of Sebens last year, but have been dissapointed really. These have poor light, and aren't very sharp in some cases. Reputed to retail at about £100, I would have been very [censored] if I'd paid that.
The Meades trounce these, without even taking into account the cost difference.

Sorry, Bill, I forgot to put the smiley in. Like..be satisfied :-) I can only say to you all that if there are any pairs left at a Lidls near you, grab them. They are better than some £100+ bins I looked at at the Birdfair. Okay, a bit heavy, but the superb light gathering makes up for it, IMO.
