Do you have speedometer, little bill, or is Jeff in fact correct in
saying all your posts about speed, distance, and cadence are all
estimates? And if he is in fact correct, then why would you think he's
    a moron?

    Rich,

Speed: measured on the school bus while sitting behind the driver.
Distance: calculated from a map and sometimes by taking a car the same
    route.
Cadence: Measured in 15 second intervals against my wrist watch.

You seem to think that I am focusing on your silly bus drafting story,
    well I am not.
I am talking in general, about all your apparently unmeasured,
    exaggerated exploits.
Why not just answer Rich's question? Although I think you already did,
if you use a map to figure distances.
So, once more, do you have a speedometer on your bike[s]?

Drafting a school bus at a known 35 MPH was no estimate so why pick on
that? I was 15, in absurdly good shape, did century rides in the
mountains in the weekends, so drafting at 35 was a non problem. Perhaps
moron was giving Jeff too much credit. Some of us have done things that
others would never even think of trying and I will not try to change the
safety at all costs line of thinking. As I mentioned, distance has been
verified by car and Mapquest/Yahoo and cadence is a total no brainer to
measure for 15 seconds and then multiply by 4. I run 80-85 RPM when I
want to do a long distance cruise and as low as 40 when I am just
    puttering with my grandkids.

I did troll with the tricycle speed since that was the impression of a
3-5 year old kid, me. My Mustang did do an honest 160+ and my wife even
did that speed with it. The motorcycle speed of 200 MPH 'MAY' have been
a high estimate but it was on the peg at 170 and accelerated about 1,000
RPM more on the tach. Since I didn't get radar'ed I don't know, but it
was wickedly scary fast. These days I might, maybe take a bike up to 140
but that has been pretty much outgrown and there are way too many police
looking for that juicy big ticket.

No speedometer, yet, but I can tell within a few if I am doing 13-15 MPH
by timing myself between mile markers, a 4 minute mile being 15 flat. My
usual cadence is about 80 in a 42/14 gear on a 26"x1.75 or 2.25 tire
depending on which bike I use. If you want to do the math as an exercise
I got 88.5" per revolution on the 2.25 tires. That is just cruise and I
don't really care about the actual speed. Top gear on the Mongoose is
42/11 but I chased the gravel trucks with the Huffy and the top is
48/14. My current project is to see if I can mount water bottles with
auto heater hose clamps on the front forks or anywhere else they might
fit. Total Fred but I can easily drink that much on one of my 100 degree
mountain centuries. The back pack gets the food and tools. Per the song
by Frank Sinatra "I do it my way".

Have you ever tried to measure distance between obscure points on a
mapquest or Yahoo map? It ain't easy. That is why I will sometimes take
a car to trace my route to the ends of the pavement. The car's odometer
is off a few percent but I have already factored that in by driving
between freeway mileage posts and matching the real 10 miles against the
car's odometer and speedometer. Something else no one would believe I do
since it takes a certain level of smarts.

What?? Are you totally stupid? You just put in your to and from
address and IT TELLS YOU THE DISTANCE. Can you even use a computer Bill?

Another obvious example of one of your lies.

Buy a cyclocomputer. Then get back to us with some actual facts. I
think you'll discover that you're not riding anywhere near as far or
    fast as you're claiming.

    DUH, Ralph.
The places I ride don't even have addresses and they would not take the
same roads and even dirt trails I use to get places. You must be riding
in the city way too much as the smog seems to be affecting you. I do NOT
    ride in city areas.
