I just purchased a portable RCA Lyra mp3 player. Been fighting with it for 3 days now. Downloaded and installed all necessary software (USB Driver, latest MusicMatch Version and Plug-in)from provided starter disc then from internet site. Many failed attempts. Basically, I run Windows ME which tells me that everything has been successfully installed then I finally open MusicMatch and build the playlist before attempting to transfer to mp3 player. Under "file" prompt and "send to portable player" prompt I cannot locate the player. The hardware is not recognized and shows "0" portable devices. I finally went into few group threads trying to find solution but was unable. All I found was suggestion to take same procedure I did over and over. Any other feasible solutions or does the term "you get what you pay for" apply to me since I bought the beginner version, RD1021? Please respond if you can help.

Do you have the latest firmware updates for this device? It should be version 1.605. Try a different USB port or another computer, if possible.

Does your player show up as installed on your computer? Are you using a USB cable that came with it? Is there a lock off switch on your player that you use so your settings don't change?? If so, unlock it. I know I have to do this on my iRock....
Did you download the correct plugin from MM site?? musicmatch.complugOpen ↗ ins/?plugin=player&version=7.10.1070iroc k&os=pc
If it turns out to be a software problem rather than a hardware problem there are other software programs that you can probably use rather than MM.... I think media player 9 will handle it (If you like MM9.... can kind of be a problem for some)...

I have a RCA Kazoo MP3 and have had such a bad experience with drivers that I will never purchase from RCA again. Worked OK when I had a Windows 98 operating system but when I switched to XP the drivers no longer worked. About a year later they finally came out with XP drivers but it will only recognise the built in memeory not the MMC card. RCA gives little support to drivers... stay away!!!
