Rasmussen told the Dutch media that he spends most of his time training in Mexico, so he's too busy to tell the Danes where he is haha.

shady character indeed. I make no secret that I don't like the chicken, so hopefully this news rattles him enough to tank in the ITT on saturday. Ok, ok, he probably will anyways, so how about cracking in the pyrenees?

Couple of points on the emaciated one they call chicken:

1) he looks like an HIV patient in need of immediate truama care
2) rumor is that he knows how to mooooooo for help
3) no way he could have dropped those two passengers, who NEVER took a pull in 60 minutes w/o superior blood fuel boost.
4) he has no sprint so unless the world's ends on a 11,000 foot peak, he is worthless.
5) he can't TT on the flat or rollers

He's very fortunate that the Danish drug protocols are fairly lax. In the UK 3 missed drug tests are equivalent to a positive and automatic bans follow. A number of international athletes have been sanctioned recently because of this. The bans are inevitably reduced on appeal because the athlete's standard excuses are usually accepted. After all, why wouldn't you believe an athlete when he says that he would never dream of taking PEDs? According to Victor Conte of Balco infamy, these type of excuses are one of the infallible ways of undertaking your drug cycle undetected. You simply disappear, miss 2 tests and blame the testers for failing to notify you or alternatively cite administrative [censored]-ups, and eventually re-surface once your drug of choice is no longer in your bloods or [censored]. The drug testing clock is eventually reset and the whole farrago can start again. Despite LA frequently claiming to be the most tested athlete in the history of Mankind, it has been suggested that he was a master of this particular stunt. Whatever the case, treat excuses such as those offered by the mighty Chicken with extreme caution. All professional sportsmen-and particularly those that are already under the microscope of suspicion-are perfectly well aware of the requirements of making themselves available for testing. If grave suspicion subsequently falls on them for failing to do so, then that is regarded as a very small price to pay for their successful evasion tactics.

These rules also apply to Danish athletes, but Rasmussen received two warnings from the national cycling union (DCU), and two from the ICU. Three warnings from a single instance is needed to ban a rider.

The 'chicken' nickname is one he got a long time ago (perhaps during the high school years), and relates to a childrens TV show featuring a bear and a chicken. With Rasmussen's body it's pretty easy to figure out why he's the chicken.

But ethic codes said that if a rider miss a test , he need to be exclude of team. That is why many teams are anger against Rabo which are FULL RESPONSIBLE of this mess.

Lots of riders miss out on out of competition tests. Its pretty annoying to have to account for your whereabouts 3 months in advance for every single day of the year and always communicate any changes back. Anyway the rule is simple.. miss three and you're out, miss 2 and you're not. The warning is merely indicating that you're close to 3.

And what i could find he has missed out on may 8 and june 28. However he wast tested on june 30. Pretty close to the june 28 when they were looking for him i suppose, anyway i m no expert.

Many teams are not angry.. Some of the French are. Then again, the French always are.

You seem to know few. If you miss a test in January it's not important but missing a test just before a big race is very important. To know that you would be tested is very important when you dope because it's very easy to mask your doping. Everyone close of pro-racing know that!
The French are angry because some people are STUPID to tarnish their sport and the race. A lot of teams will see their sponsor leaving cycling at the end of year, a lot of riders will see their earnings decreasing, a lot of them will have to find an other job as many team's member, a lot of reporters will never follow pro-racing for newspaper and TV,... so there is a lot of people who are angry.

You'd think, in this era of the sport, that suspending a suspected doper would be more of a statement than winning/wearing the yellow jersey.

The British cyclist David Millar yesterday bitterly attacked the Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen for failing to make the anti-doping authorities aware of his whereabouts for out-of-competition testing.

Millar said: "He's now shrouded in suspicion, and rightfully so. It is unacceptable of a rider of his stature and responsibilities to not have his whereabouts supplied to the right authorities. For sure, it is possible for it to slip through the system due to slow Mexican mail, or whatever, but it is up to him to confirm that it has been received so as not to have this situation arise.

Rasmussen retained his race lead yesterday, but his credibility has been called into question, said Millar, who has become an anti-doping campaigner since serving a two-year ban for the use of the blood booster erythropoietin. "Now it screws us all," he said. "Because of the current situation he will be doubted. Regardless, it's [censored] for him, it's [censored] for the Tour de France, and it's [censored] for us, the riders and the fans."
