I'm glad that you are mostly OK.

I hope they catch the individual and mete out a punishment that you feel is justified.

Oddly enough I have. It was a long time ago and I never knew where it came from, but it hit me in
the forehead. It only caused a small bump and there was no blood. But it gave me one hell of a
headache. I went to nearby doctor's office where they removed what turned out to be a .177 cal. lead
pellet. It hit about two inches up and slightly to the left of my left eye. I still have a tiny scar
there as a souvenir.

I figured this had to be a once in a lifetime deal so I have been free from worry of ever getting
shot again while riding.

I haven't been shot at yet (they haven't moved up to firearms yet in the UK) but I have had beer
bottles thrown at me as I went past a pub on my Vision
r40. Lucky I had my helmet on as I got a direct hit to the top of the head, managed to stay on the
bent and was able to ride out of the area.

The police were called and turned up to the pub where other drinkers pointed out theculprit as they
thought what he did was bang out of order and he got nicked for D&D.

Well I live in Belfast......... To be honest your case sounds pretty unique and upsetting, we get
bad press here, but I have never really heard of one cyclist/benter 'getting it'. Don't live in fear
and Don't let the ba$tards grind you down!

heinous crime of cycling past them late at night.

I only use CO2 pellet revolver on seemingly vicious animals which come charging at me. Supposed to
be on leash or tied up. I figure if not then wild and vicious and need to be put in their place.
Unfortunately recoil of .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk precludes its use as it might cause loss of
control on bent.

I was shot in the leg by a moron (I'm being polite) with an airgun last September. I was riding home
from work, and spent the next two hours in the company of Greater Manchester Police, who were
helpful (first aid kit, cup of coffee) and sympathetic (they took a statement from me) but not
hopeful. The little b*gger and his mates were long gone.

I was lucky, as I didn't have to dig the pellet out, so didn't require a visit to A&E, but did
require cleanup facilities and a dressing.

Funnily enough, if that had been a few years ago in that region of Manchester they'd probably have
been scraping me off the road.

Being shot at is unusual though. More often it's eggs or bottles, or just good old-fashioned
verbal abuse...

I have been employed as a Land Surveyor for the past 28 years.

One incident involved an irate home owner who told us he was surprised no one had shot us yet. The
next day we were working along a wooded shoreline of a lake when we saw a car stop along the road on
the opposite shoreline. We noted a splash about 10 feet in front of us followed by the sound of a
gunshot. The next splash was a little closer. We were behind trees before we heard the second shot.
We then heard car tires squealing as the vehicle left the scene.

The second happened while working on one of the local Indian reservations. Some of the locals were
upset with the planned project in their area. We were getting verbal abuse daily. One day we had
just headed down one of our brush lines when we heard a car pull up in the gravel pit behind us.
This was followed by the sounds of bullets in the branches around us and shouted obscenities from
the locals. We took up residence behind the trees and waited for them to leave. I guess this was
some sort of re-creation of bygone days with the Surveyors and the Native Americans.

base...I would seriously consider finding a new route to ride.

I've been teetering on the edge of selling all my bents and buying a trike and i just couldn't
justify doing it until now.

But .44 magni are for wimps and posers. Fabrizio and I use the .454 Casull.

Wow, I've spent nearly 20 years in the military and even have been in a few war zones. Yet judging
from your post, I have never been as endangered as you are when riding your bike in Canada. But I
did have a duck hunting buddy (who wasn't the brightest bulb) once take a shot at a duck with his
12-guage from a few feet away and sent the load right by my face--felt like I got slapped and my
ears rang for a week. I never hunted with that guy again.

WOW....20 years in the Military eh I spent ONLY 5 years in the military...the last 2 of them in a
War Zone flying what had the stealth of a Studebaker Bus leaking oil and the weaponary of a friggin
Tank. During those 2 years I was surprised when a day went by that I wasn't being shot at,
(accidently) flying under jets about to drop napalm, having the nicest people appear from the jungle
still dressed in their black PJs running towards us while dodging our twin M-60s to see us take off
and to show their love and appreciation would try to toss baskets of fruit into my cabin, seeing
off-course rockets fired across my windscreen from other gunships in my group....and people wondered
why we never closed our side doors...duh. Getting a .177 cal pellet in the head was nothing.
