<g> I recall the last time I ran in to a group that was like this.
Dunno if it was Ramblers or a local group. Lead by a flustered looking
man who greeted me as some sort of savior and asked me for directions,
making a great play to the rest of the group of how close they were to
where he thought they were. Now this is relatively benign Hampshire
downsland/heathland/woodland we're talking about, nothing to get
flustered about. Beats me why he had got into the position of leader.
But then the whole group thing is alien to me; far too much
organisation, far too restricted.

I was interested to see Bridgedale socks come in over Smartwool, and
Platypus over Camelbak. I wonder whether the merino wool baselayers
(Icebreaker, for instance) will feature in the base layers next year.
My Icebreaker is just about my favourite item of clothing at the
moment, for walking and running 🙂

I think Smartwool are superb, so I can't imagine there's too much
difference. I've just read the comment about adding olive oil ! I'd
not heard of that before....

I must admit to being completely non-plussed about the Bridgedale thing.
I've had some decent Bridgedale's in recent years but they're not in the
same league as Smartwool

Have been looking at both Bridgedale and Smartwool socks. they seem to
be the best brands available. Interested to know why you find the
Smartwool socks so much better.
