Raliegh 20 Power Systems

I can't find a drawing but yes, the rounded steel lamp with
glass lens has a switch on top and a series of connections
inside. The connectors used are about the size of a large
cable crimp. Those plug into the several openings on the
switch plate for head with tail, tail only, head only or, in
some model lamps, single bulb /dual bulb.

To make it period correct find some of those awful aluminum
strips we suffered before zip ties!

Bill Putnam and I noticed a few years ago various Raleigh
publications show the DynoHub terminals on the left and
other Raleigh literature's on the right, The ad for my year
pictures it right.

ps-there's an admonishment stamped on your GH6 Dynohub 'do
not remove armature without keeper ring'. Indeed, don't.

Would the Dyno hub work with lights meant for the schmidt or for Shimano's
genterator hub? Or am I wasting my time and I should just get a good
quality rechargable lighting system?? I guess I'm asking is the Dyno hub a
blessing or a curse??

You'd get a little bit of yellowish light, but nothing useful, because
the DynoHub doesn't put out enough juice.

The Shimano generator hubs are wonderful, and work very well with the
Lumotec lights. I own two of the Shimanos and a Schmidt, highly
recommend them.

Well, with a Dynohub, you've got about a half an amp
available to use any way you like. Like Lucas systems in
British cars (Lucas 3-way switch=Dim/Flicker/Off) those of
us who like them tend to grade on the curve.

Compared to a crisp piercing white Cygo NiMH light, a
Dynohub offers a very British flickering dingy yellow glow.
OTOH it's cost me me less than $10 in bulbs over 33 years
and it _always_ works. Like many commuters, I set it up
without a switch so it is always on. And I can't leave it home.

YMMV. Your criteria may weigh other factors like lumens
above reliability and convenience. One's daily route is
important too. I have lived on routes where this is just
not enough light.
