Not too bad in the 'sunny' south. Very little rain compared to the rest of
the country. Cloud with blue sky as I type .... with a little rain this
afternoon. The ground, however, is still rock hard.

Yesterday afternoon, it started to brighten up. I was travelling back
from Wester Ross, and fancied a quick bag on the journey.

I decided at Crianlarich to do Meall Bhuidhe, above Glen Ogle. When I
got there it had been obvious that a severe shower had recently
passed, and the car radio was detecting lightning. Big fierce burns
flowing where they dont usually flow. I carried on home. Two hours
later the hill was partly over the road and they were choppering folk
off to Killin.

Best hill I never did - Phew!

Having escaped the flood - the car developed a nasty sounding fault
on the M9 - another expensive trip tomorrow?

yes, you were very lucky. Those instincts about the weather one develops
over the years perhaps 8-)
well done on 1,100! that is A LOT of hills.

From the Beeb at lunch, sounds like the road might be closed this weekend
still - that scuppers the main route from Edinburgh direction to the Coe,
Central Highlands, etc 8-(
And with narrow lanes on the A9 ...

You had a closer escape than I did.

Tuesday - waited in for a delivery through a fine morning, and then went
for an afternoon plod up Ben Vane from Glen Buckie. Arrived at the
summit to be rewarded with a thundery downpour. Lots of water on the
road through Strathyre on the way back.

Wednesday - thought about going out in the afternoon again, but
something turned up. Instead, watched a re-enactment of Tuesday's late
afternoon storm sweep across the Trossachs, Ben Vorlich et al.

I thought that's a lot of water two days in a row, then heard the news
about an hour later.
