  1. Up 2 1/2#. My granddaughter just had her 18th birthday. The whole family came out Saturday, we had
spaghetti, birthday cake, ice cream, etc. Then she spent the night and we took her to the 'infamous'
Mexican restaurant on Sunday. So I completely blew it! We're back to snow & sloppy, slushy, slick
roads again. Most of the schools in our county were closed today due to bad roads.

I must remember to DRINK WATER instead of eating! Guess I need to hang a sign on the refrigerator
    and around my neck!

  2. Look, you didn't blow it! You chose to have cake and ice cream. It's not like you choose that for
breakfast everyday, right? This is a WOL, not a diet. You can make choices, and go from there.

Congrats to your granddaughter on her birthday!

  5. Donna:

I commiserate with you!! We are celebrating my birthday this week and I had a 1/3 of an angel food
cake. I said only one slice I'm dieting and she gives me a third. I didn't eat it all but darn I was
    hoodwinked.

  6. Sorry to hear about the gain. Some of it may be water from that 'infamous' Mexican restaurant on
Sunday. Drink lots of water and it will be gone before you know it.

  7. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Special occasions are part of life. When we celebrate like
there's no tomorrow, we just have to get back to real life...tomorrow. No guilt, and move on!
    There's always next week.

  8. Sounds like you enjoyed yourstle and at least most of that gain will be water. Just get back OP and
that will take care of the rest. Wish you luck. Elaine K

  9. Donna: This is NOT a bad thing! Eighteen is so important to the kids. This young lady will have that
special day only once in her life. You participated. You did not throw a wet blanket on the
celebrations. That is more important than anything your scale can tell you. How about making a big
pot of no point vegetable soup? It would soothe your psyche and warm your body. The Queen Has

  16. You're welcome! I would never be able to stick with this if I couldn't have birthday cake with my
kids, or chocolate truffles on occasion. Or pizza once a week! ;-)

I overheard some never-too-rich-too-thin types talking about the South Beach diet, moaning about not
being able to have fruit the first week, or some such nonsense. I stifled a smirk (mostly) and went
and had dinner at the mall with my family. No problems!
