They are all just variotions of the same thing. Find the one with features you like at a price you
like with the type of bladder you like.

if you want, look and see how well it is sewn together.

Don't pay for a name. Pay for quality. Depending on your choices paying more for a name may be
better at times, but look at the products and get the best bang for your buck. For example, I have
what they sell here www.mec.ca which is way cheaper than camelback and the quality is
irreproachable.

I'm a big fan of Camelbaks. Recently guys that I ride with have been buying Hydrapacks from
Pricepoint. I have to admit because of the cost, I was expecting a low quality item. So far I've
seen the Delta, Overflow and Keg. They are all very qood quality and look like they take the
punishment.

CB's are good, but the pack I use is a large Fox. Well constructed and has oodles of handy features.
Such as a small pouch under the hood for wallet and keys; a pair of side pouches that run the length
of the main pack body, (I put a pump and tools in one and snacks in another); compression straps; an
outside pouch to put frequently accessed stuff (like gummies); an integral yet well hidden rainfly;
dual internal bladder pouches (bladder sold separately) in case you're going on a looong ride. Very
comfy, also.

Check out Ultimate Direction packs - I use the phantom. They come in as wide an assortment as
anything else, but have the hands-down best bite valve design around.

Funny, I also like their paks a lot -- especially their huge bladder opening and reliable closure --
but the 1st thing that I do is cut-off and replace the bite valve 🙂

Personally, I don't like Camelback's bladder.

Why dont u like camelbak bladders ? afterall its a bladder of Decent quality... Aside from the
Bicarb rinse. they are good. and reminiscent of 3m quality.

I use a platypus in my own normal biking rucsak - it serves my purpose perfectly.

This weekend I had a gulp out of someones camelbak, filled with exactly the same liquid as mine, and
it tasted rank. Plasticy Rubberised tasting liquid gives me no incentive to stay hydrated!

FWIW I get no "extra" taste from my platy.

Camelbak's newer bladders have pretty large openings that just about take up the width of the
bladder so unless the bladder gets wider, the circular opening can't get bigger.

On the contrary, my new camelbak bladder tastes quite normal. I've heard good things about platypus
but their bladder material seems quite stiff which I didn't like.

PS: Camelbak's customer service is excellent, replaced my 1 yr old defective bladder within 3 weeks,
hassle free. And I don't live in the States.

Yep, my backup's a platy 🙂. Been having problems finding Ultimate Directions lately, and they
looked like a good alternative (and the price was right 🙂). I've learned to make sure that zip's
fully closed on the platy or you can get a surprise drenching 🙂.

That might be part of it -- the one that I tried (and still have sitting in my "could be used in an
emergeny pile 🙂) is about 3 years old.

Could they also have changed the bladder material -- or mayeb added a liner layer?

I know what you mean about the stiff platy liner. But it's not enough of an issue for me to skip
because of it.
