today.

What? Lance crashed today after riding for several days into a state of
advanced sleep depravation and then considered riding on with only one
working arm? I hadn't read that. I read that he went over his handlebars
on his TT bike late last week and got a little banged up. ;-)

Glad Mr. Trevino exercised some good judgement. What was his first name?

I wonder if that guy's riding this year who had the pole coming out of his
ass to hold his head up?

I guess I should lighten up on Freds. I use a mirror when I train.

Aren't you the guy who races centuries and charity rides?

Why does anyone believe that Lance crashed today? Cycling News says it
"happened at low speed during the start of a training ride last week."

Did I miss something or are you guys confused about the difference
between last week and today? Must make it hell to get your bills paid
on time.

I would concede that point to you. That guy did more damage to RAAM
then anyone I can think of. That guy was totally ridiculous, and a FRED!
But he doesn't represent the ultracycling community. This is my theory on
what happenned there. I think he had so much money invested in the RAAM
adventure, he couldn't call it quits. That's when RAAM should step in, and
say "it's over dude." I really don't know how he made the time cutoffs,
with all the coverage of him at clinics, building the device, it was crazy.
NBC's coverage of that guy, made a mockery of the whole thing. They wanted
a freak show, and they somehow found it.

I resent any 'freak' connotation when speaking of FRAAM, the apogee of
sport for the 21st century and beyond.

Me too! As I ride the stationary trainer. or when I get brave enough
to ride the rollers (I never ride outside, traffic is scary! Plus it
might rain), I always have a floor to ceiling mirror set up so I can
monitor my form and make sure I am pedaling circles. Of course, seeing
my Discovery Channel jersey also helps motivate me. Although I think
the Mapei skinsuit looked better. But it's so out of date.

So see, you do have something in common with us Freds.

After 20 back to back centuries are completed, then you know the race is
on. Only 10 back to back centuries to go, so you have to make your move
very quickly at that point.

Actually RAAM seems to be very useful from an rbr sense as it provides a
warm up race for fred bashers just before the tour starts.
