I've got a few questions. Like many of you out there, I've got a set of "training" wheels and a set of "race only" wheels. The annoying part is that its a major hassle switching between the two, becuase I innevitably have to re-adjust the rear derailleur to get proper shifting each time I do. Is there a way to compensate for this? For the record, the hubs are Shimano Exage on the training set and American Classic on the racing set.

First make the cassette or freewheel cog spacing the same. Then make the spacing on the wheels identical. This will mean shifting spacers around on the axles until the hubs match and then correcting the dish. Fiddly but you only have to do it once. Phil Brown

If the hubs are different and place the cogset even a wee bit differently in relation to your rear mech, a der adjust is going to,probably be necessary. Only by using same manufacture hubs will you not have this 'problem'...

But if the hub is built for a Shimano cassette, wouldn't it make sense to space it exactly as a Shimano hub is?
I have two rear wheels, since it is always a good idea to have a spare just in case. I also have different cassettes on them, so I can grab the wheel more appropriate to the day's ride. Thankfully the hubs are by the same manufacturer, so I never have to adjust the derailleur just to swap wheels.

That's what I was thinking and why I said it was an annoyance, not a 'problem'.
