  1. Dr. Chung -

I've only skimmed this newgroup briefly - but I do see a lot of talk about your diet
    recommendation - "2PD."

It seems to me that the big advantages in such a diet are that it is simple ... and it works.

You may have answered the following question elsewhere, but I just did not see it in skimming. If
    so, I apologize.

As a physician and cardiologist what if anything do you see as the "negatives" in following such a
    diert plan?

    Thanks much.

smn (who could stand to lose a pound or three)

Hate from those who envy your being at ideal body weight.

    ................

I'm not at my ideal body weight. And indeed I do somewhat envy those like you who are.

But I certainly don't hate you - although I confess that I find the flippant tone of your response a
    little off-putting.

What I am asking is are there any endocrinological, cardiological, or metabolic concerns that you
have identified in your work since first coming up with your diet plan that I might take into
account before considering your approach for myself.

    Thnx -

It would be easier logistically if you either call or email me through the contact information on

Your number according to the phone book is:

    404-531-3979

When I dialed it just now I got the message:

"this number has been changed to a non-published number"

Again, logistically, it would be easier for you to reach me through the contact information on
    my web site.

    ................

First of all, please do not post my phone number on this or any board.

Second, I suggested you call me at home - there was a reason. My efforts are now devoted to
research, education, and advocacy. I discontinued direct patient care last year - after some 27
years. Next time, try the residence instead of the business listings - like I asked.

Third, there will not be a "next time." My offer to take you to lunch is withdrawn.

Dr. Chung, I came to this newsgroup as a fellow physician in support of your Internet efforts on
behalf of those with cardiological concerns. Incredibly, it has taken me but two days to find
myself in almost complete accord with your detractors. I still wish they would do away with
their ad hominem attacks, which I contimue to believe are counterproductive - but to tell you
the truth, it has taken an almost superhuman effort on my own part not to join in.

I wish everybody on this newsgroup well. Even you. But kindness, compassion, and understanding - all
very Christian attributes - are wasted upon you. And I want no further part of it.

Being that it is a non-working number, it is not your number.

appreciate docs who are willing to share their knowledge with others. Matt

Does arrogance always go hand in hand with the training and practice of physicians? I tell you, when
they invented the term "God Complex", it must have been coined for doctors.

You give yourself too much credit, Dr. Chung.

I am not afraid of you.

    I am just disgusted.

I have great respect for those who truly glorify Christ.

But you are not glorifying Christ. You are *using* Christ to glorify yourself.

I remember the day after Kennedy was assassinated. A cartoon drawn by Mauldin appeared in the
Chicago Sun-Times. It depicted Lincoln sitting on that huge granite seat in the Lincoln Memorial,
but his head was in his hands ... and he was crying inconsolably.

That's how I envision Christ as he considers how you "glorify" His name, Dr. Chung. He is sitting
with His head in His hands - crying inconsolably - because you, whom He dearly loves, just don't get
it. Even a Jew like me can see that!

Now good day. And do go ahead and have the last word. A *truly* humble man wouldn't need to. But you
won't be able to help yourself.

You have politely challenged his beliefs, and will now get his wrath in disguised form. I notice
that Mu_(whatever) is back. He is Chung's alter ego. It is an interesting insight to listen to Mu_,
realizing it is Chung. Mu_ has been dormant for a while, but unfortunately is back. Here we go
again. Beware the wrath of Mu. <g> Some of this is funny.

I am discouraged to see that idiocy has not been cured while I was gone.

I've been in this group now quite a while. I've probably seen more good information posted by Dr.
Chung here than by any other individual. He also posts large amounts of off-topic nonsense and posts
in what many will take to be an offensive style.

All in all, I just ignore his off-topic posts and his manner of engaging others. What is harder to
ignore by far is the army of detractors who post incessantly off-topic in this sci.med group.
