Exactly. You can get the same effect from a traditional frame using the same angles.

The only time I could see warranting a compact frame is in a situation where you wanted your seat below the handlebars.

I can care less about looks. When you are as big as me (252 pounds 6"4'😉 a seat post that is extended way up bends.
