He is signed up. He lurks there but has never posted...as of about a
    month ago anyway.

    Well, that's Jim for ya.

I signed up but can't even remember to lurk half the time let alone
post. But I tell you what: if I wanted to ask someone there a question,
    I WOULDN'T ASK IT HERE.

<heh> For as "cutting edge" as that forum is supposed to be, I noticed
that the study on training to failure that I posted 3 weeks ago,
leading to a rather contentious thread, finally appeared on Lyle's
forum a week ago. After a number of posts discussing the study,
including posts by Lyle, it appears that nobody has even read past the
    abstract.

Speaking of training to failure, there are a lot of guys under 200
pounds at my gym who bench close to or more than 300 pounds raw who
always do assisted reps in the bench after they start to fail.

It does have its benefits. It also has risks. Due to my rotator cuff
problems, I no longer bench press to failure unless I'm testing a max
    lift.

So am I and have been for some time. To be honest I have never felt
the urge to post because there is nothing particularly interesting
    there to post about.

It may be the disjointed set up, or the muted input to a moderated
site, but I just can't get the feel of it - not that I go there very
    often.

The chances of me getting a post past the moderator are probably quite

That way, when you critisize them,
you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

It appears that thinking is not your greatest talent, Mike.

My comments are not directed at Lyle. They are directed at a forum
which some (including you) have consistently promoted in MFW. If, as
some have implied, that forum is a superior source of information, why
are people coming to MFW to ask questions that should be addressed
there? For that matter, why are you still here? Folks like August and
Proton seem to have taken up permanent residence at the ashram.

FWIW, this is not the first time a web forum has been criticized in
    MFW:

Whatever you say. The website has good articles and Lyle's keto book is
useful and straightforward. IIRC, my recommendation related to the website,
not the discussion forum, which I haven't checked out in a while and have
    never participated in.

I'm here out of habit and because some people here still have
valuable/interesting information to contribute. For example, Will's recent
post of the video on www.crossfit.com led me to check out that program. I'm
not a fan of web forums in general. I don't like the interface as compared
    with usenet.
