Question About LX V-Brakes

THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR POSTING A PIC TO A NON-BINARY NEWSGROUP.

They *are* springs. WHen you install the brake cable, it will pull the arms
in against the springs (see that little "stop" thingy?), so that the brakes
will open away from rim when the lever is released.

figured that they are springs, but when I don't have the brakes
depressed, they are completely loose, so I didn't know if I had them on
right or not. Maybe I should preface these Emails by saying that I'm
pretty new to cycling.

You need to "load" the springs by placing them on the inside of the stops on
the brake arms; the springs push OUT against the cable tension.

But in addition to being grumpy old men, they're also right.

My ISP's server strips attachments from posts in non-binary groups right
off the bat. I couldn't see the pics if I tried.

Doesn't just about every ISP these days give away some server space?
The best thing to do is to put the picture on the web and send us a
link.

Wow, I never saw that before... Kind of interesting reading, although I'm
not sure of point 1.2.6....

Would've been kinda funny (in a sadistic way though) if the OP had gone
ahead and cut off the stoppers on the brake arms before reading the rest of
