Question about cycling caps

That is not my experience. I have caps that have been washed many,
many times and as long as it is a cold water wash and not put in the
dryer there is no problem.

Leave the salt. The crust will help squeeze your head out from underneath
truck tires!

It it does, it's less noticable than the warpage from being jammed in my
pocket. Your mileage obviously varies.

I need to ride into the rising sun 8 miles on the way to work, and the
setting sun 7 miles on the way home. If one is riding into a strong wind;
well, that is what the chin strap is for.

With my light complexion, I need to protect my neck from sunburn. I also
like to set my own fashion mark.

If one does not care about a sunburned neck, and the goal is to look exactly
like every other serious bike rider, I suggest a cycling cap - J.

I wash my caps all the time. Woolite or Zero, good rinse and hang to dry.
Mind you I use Nike "DriFit" style hats. These are absolutely the best hats
I have ever used to control sweat and they seem to stay cooler than any
others too. I shave my head so there isn't any there to catch sweat or
provide UV protection so a hat is a must. Most "running" or outdoor gear
shops should carry these type of hats. I ride a bent trike so my head is all
of a meter off the ground.... if I rode an old fashioned conventional bike,
I would where a helmet for sure.

Ken have you thought about a dew rag type head cover under your helmet or do
you ride w/out helmet. Sew rags work great and are washable. Bill

Depends on the material. I have a couple of wool caps I hand wash, but the
cotton ones just go in the washer.

I don't want to be bothered, on a daily basis.

Going to the barber every 2-3 weeks is all the hair care I have patience
for.

I also think most Caucasian guys look dreadful with shaved heads. Like they

Might differ from brand to brand, but the Pace one I'm currently
wearing handles the washer with no problem. It's got a nice sweat
wicking elastic headband as well. Classic visor that'll keep a
sprinkle off your glasses if you wear it low. $5 at Nashbar or a ten
spot at most LBS's. Fits up to 7 7/8" (melon).
