Several. There's nothing mystical about them, but they do have one of
the best MC's on the market today.

I think Brooks also use similar inserts. You may also want to look at
Mizuno -- the "Wave" style cushioning also has a nice responsive feel
to it.

True, but that's part of their success. Asics cured my pronation. No
nike could do that!

not sure all what elements of ASICS you're referring to.

One thing I've seen on at least some ASICS (gel eagle) that I don't
think I've seen on other shoes is a drawstring in the top to snug the
heel. Is that architecture or accessory? I know at least one person has
had a shoe maker add that to her other-brand shoes.

I'm sure there's others, but of the shoes I've tried, the Asics Gel
Eagle (original) did have a gel insert. But this wasn't as good as the
inserts in my other shoes. FWIW, Brooks Trespass (I and II) and
Adrenaline and Saucony Grid Stabils don't use gel inserts. They both use
an EVA (I think) insert with pattern on the bottom that helps with shock
absorption. This works better for me so far. The gel seems too squishy
for my feet, but that's my feet. YMMV.
