I would never do such a thing. I would have just told the person to lie down on the track if I knew that would save him.

I wouldn't risk my life for a stranger - who knows how bad that stranger can be?

At least I help out the beggers...

I want you to know that I’m not in favor of organizing a BIG spaghetti dinner to raise the money for this misfit!

I’m sure it can help the cause in the long run... but for now, transportation is the main problem.

It’s nice for the misfit to learn a lesson...

...there is always room to grow!

I’d like to share with you what I have... but it isn’t much... believe me! It isn’t much.

My freeride to freedom on the streets of DC

...can only begin with transportation a.k.a mountain bike.

It will be an uphill ride all the way... Believe me!

Go ahead, say it: “Money doesn’t grow on trees!”

You should know that...

...on those many mountain bike trails, there are many trees.

But I’d like to think that Washington D.C. is still the capital of the FREE world.

We all pray for the day when our nation may truly be the land of the FREE!

May God bless you all and continue to inspire you in the service of your fellowman.

just to let you know, we still have no clue what you're talking about. this would probably be a little easier. (just an example)

im looking for a bike, but cannot afford to buy one, if anyone could help me out, it would be a blessing to me and/or my family. here are some of the ways it would help me:
-i would be able to successfully develop a strategy for world peace by using my bicycle as a means to usher in necessary funding to balance the worlds economy thus insuring food and happiness for everyone.
-i could build a ricksaw using only recycled junkyard parts and start a company providing alternative means of transportation for the rich and famous i.e. movie premiers, awards shows, executive hoohas.
-i need this bicycle to climb a mountain only accessible by mtb. so i may rendezvous with with aliens and initiate negotiations to spare all humanity a life of servitude and probing.

this would be a much more effective approach to mooching a free ride.
and to show my support, i will be willing to put up a crankset for your bike. once you have a list of all the parts needed to make up a bicycle, i will mail it to you, and i'll even pay the postage.

if you need a bicycle that bad, you should do a little dumpster diving, and save some cans to replace the chain and tubes.

Why bring me into this post?

I am just as clueless as everyone else. First you tell about some dude saving a guy on the subway and then you ramble on to so thoughtfully tell us how humans are built out of empathy...and somehow this is supposed to relate to giving you a free bike?

But throughout this I can't find the reason exactly WHY you need a bike. You clarify something about trasportation, and finally being able to think for yourself? But mabye if we knew the reason why, and not why bums in California had something to do with a mountain bike, you might have a better chance of actually retaining a bike from someone.

I don't want a bunch of stories about people's dignity and poor people, I want a straight out answer that doesn't seem like I am reading it out of a Religion Textbook.

What exactly is your intent, and why do you want a mountain bike?

By the way, is any of your stuff copyrighted, I could use it just as a great excuse for getting pulled over! "That'll be $3,000 dollar for the ticket." "Erhmmm... sorry officer I want you to know that I’m not in favor of organizing a BIG spaghetti dinner to raise the money for this misfit!"

I didn't think LSD was that popular anymore. Ya' never know do ya'.

Ya know, I think that donating $$ out of my check for others who can't afford to cover their medical costs is a bit higher on my charity scale then donating a bike.
