  1. Ya know, trolling MFW was wayyyyy more fun when there were people of
substance to troll. Trolling trolls is like eating your own [censored].
You can't even attract a good Troll like Pusbag because, um, who would
he troll? One can easily recall remember his classic dreams. And
with a supporting cast that included people like Kneller, DFW/AC,
Arnold, Roberts, brink, Wash, Krista, GeorgeUK, Tumor boy, Volk, Bert,
Agiato, Juris and others it was easy!

You noobs missed the good times. The best threads on trolling we have
now are threads about trolling, feh. Here, some of the good stuff:

That's not "trolling" Mike, they are in the short story category, and
not very good at that, even the reference to your ass/[censored], which was
an ongoing subject of orientation speculation here for a long while.

Shall we see their like again? I don't think so, and who really cares
about how good it was in the old days?

This guy had a talent for sure. "Mike Lane rode up to the front gate on a
bicycle dressed as a schoolgirl to distract the guards" - pretty funny for
    sure. Lysis also worth googling

Of course it is trolling. Trolling isn't just "your a poopiehead
    hahahahaha!!111!!"

What happened, [censored] again? You appear to have fallen off the shift
key when going for yet more exclamation marks, and hit the 1 key. ;o)

Hurling childish insults can not be described as in any way connected
to the noble art of "trolling", but then neither can the lengthy
ramblings of self-important pompous [censored], out to entertain
themselves and their small group of wide-eyed devotees.

I have done a great deal of "trolling" at MFW, over a number of years,
and enjoyed considerable success, but my favourite "troll" was Lysis
who really knew which buttons to press.

Interesting stories but what does your subject "is that you" mean? It
contradicts the substance of your post.

Like everyone else, I used to post "more frequently", under a
pseudonym, but not on MFW. Like computer games, usenet was an
entertainment, and also a waste of time back then, as it is now. Hard
to believe that as a result there was a fiction book written about
that character by a physics PhD from MIT. Later I actually met the
author in person. Have to go to the gym right now.

Nearly brings a tear to my eye. Perhaps the best flame in the history
of Usenet. Perfect tempo, perfect word selection, and best of all it
was well researched and all true!

I would need to know in which context it was written, and to have some
knowledge of who and what the characters to whom the writer was
referring, before I could give an honest opinion.

The writer does have a descriptive way with words, which is the
hallmark of a good "troll". ;o)

Ah, now it makes sense, but it is just a long list of personal
name-calling, which novel though it might be, hardly puts it in the
    "trolling" hall of fame.

    Thank you for your explanation.

    Poor old Rob.
