So, I was very close (maybe still am) to purchasing a Litespeed Solano. My LBS's owner is cutting me a deal where I can get it for $2500 and he's kicking in shoes and pedals for 45% off. Now I'm hearing from a million talking heads and I'm almost thinking that I should consider the Giant TCR2 (or 1). I love Giant as I ride an NRS1 on the trail. I am seriously conflicted over whether Ti or Carbon is the better material. ---Insert test ride suggestion here (I will be testing).
The reason I wanted a road bike in the first place was to cross-train for MTB racing. But, I have a sneaking suspicion that I will end up spending 80% of my riding time on the road. I may get to the point where I want to compete on the road as well. I am a hefty rider at 200lbs and 6' tall, but I will probably be sub 190lbs within a month and a half of riding. I also live in center city philly, so I need a bike that will hold up to the rigors of city riding (also, PA isn't very bike-friendly so I don't want to get hit by a car and toast a carbon frame).
I have also had people try to steer me towards a aluminum/carbon mix. Ugggggggggggggggggggghhhhhh!!!! I just want to pedal and make a wise investment. Suggestions?
