Specialized's Armadillo's and Conti's Gatorskins will both reduce the number of flats you get without slowing you down a whole lot. YOu'll still get some flats, but not as many. I really like the way my conti's handle on my tourer.

For some definitions of "normal", yes. Marathon Plus should do that, though you'll lose /something/. Otherwise there would be no point in racing tyres...

Gatorskins are nowhere near as flat resistant as Armadillos, which are in another class entirely.
Gatorskins and Michelin Carbons are about the same -- more flat resistant than typical race tires, and practically as fast. In fact they're faster than many race tires.
Schwalbe seem to be popular in Europe/UK. A favorite in Southern CA is the Serfas Seca RS.
I ride a Greenspeed GTO with the tires & tubes it came with I got my first flat from a thorn, on the rear tire, so I installed a Slime tube in just that tire. The next flat was on the right front, from a thorn (I ride the same path daily) replaced it with a Slime Tube, and then I got a flat from a thorn on the left front, another Slim Tube. No Flats since. Third times a charm? Still traveling the same routes. The directions on the liquid Slime seemed like more trouble then replacing the tube. Slim also has Tube Liners I guess I'll try them next if I get a flat. As far as them being heavier or having more rolling resistance I can't tell the difference, but I'm no Lance Armstrong. By the way my kid and her boyfriend rode there Greenspeed Tandam 1000 miles last summer on the same kind of stock Tires and tubes and never got a flat (carried Slime Tubes and One Tire) go figure.
