Can you get sweet potatoes at a decent price? In the American South
sweet potato pie is as popular as pumpkin. -aem

....or does your local grocers carry frozen, pureed winter squash? Thaw that
and use it instead of pumpkin! It's wonderful!

Here is a link for a squash pie (butternut was used)--I've never tried
it, but it has rave reviews, and looks good:

I've also heard of using a combo of butternut and acorn squash for a
pie.

And try sweet potato pie--it is every bit as good as pumpkin--it's very
popular in the South, as aem said.--becky
