    I've done a search for this and can find no answer. Forgive me if I'm wrong. I have a yellow PT computer on an older black PT hub (I got a new computer so it could talk to my Mac with PowerAgent). I am trying to get the computer to go to computer only mode so that I can use it as a speedo with my Ksyrium race wheels.

    My old black PT could record just speed/distance and pulse by holding the Select button for 3 seconds while in cadence mode, which is the advice I find when searching. However, my yellow basic PT (not Pro) doesn't do a thing. Can it indeed be used as a speedo/HRM without the PT hub, or is it useless without the hub?

    And if it does work, are there any tips for getting the rather tiny magnet which came with my Ksyriums to register with the PT sensor? Or should I go and find a magnet from an industrial generator? 🙂

    Any help would be much appreciated, as my PT wheel is rather a heavy fellow and has prehistoric round-section spokes and lots of em. It surely is the only thing holding me back from consecutive race victories. 😄

    Well I managed to get my old black PT to talk to my old Mac so I can download from it, then import it into PowerAgent. All I need to do now is get the PT to work in cycle computer mode.

    Will a stronger magnet be of use?

    I tweaked, I twiddled, and it worked. There is even a decent gap between sensor and spokes so I don't get a mashed-up sensor (I hope).

    Case closed. I still have no idea whether the basic yellow PT can work in cycle computer mode (I suspect not) but my old faithful black one now has a new lease of life as a race computer, unless somebody buys me some Zipp 303s with PT hub.

    I can't say why you had the problems you mention, but my yellow computer (from a PT SL set) works fine in cyclocomputer mode, switching, as you say, by holding down "select" while it is in cadence mode (and mode arrow is on the bottom line of the display). In fact I have two yellow PT computers, and both work in cyclocomputer mode.

    My yellow PT is not a Pro model, I think it's the basement level model which replaced the old black model. Funny though, since the old basic model does work without hub whereas my model seems unable to do so.

    I've emailed Saris/Cycleops about this but have had no reply to date.

    Color doesn't matter. A Pro will go to Comp-only and a Std will not. - TF
