From me. I was red/blond before I went grey...

Chris is a little redder, but it isn't really curly. Wavy, especially
after wrestling for a couple of hours. My family is Scots/Norse, so this
is pretty common. We've got a few redheads. -

Funny thing - both my kids had a defining moment where we knew they were
something pretty special as athletes. On the playground.Meghan is stubborn. She came home one day when she was about 6 and her
hands were a mess. She had blistered them trying to do a pull-up on the
playground. She worked at it every day - blistered hands and all - and
about 2 weeks later hauled me down to the playground to show off her
pull-up. I was suprised she would continue trying when her hands were so
sore.Chis is seriously tough. He has the ability to focus and ignore
distractions, including his own fear. When he was about the same age he
was playing backcatcher in a playground game and his best friend, the
batter, threw the bat after hitting the ball and took Chris right between
the eyes. Knocked him out cold. The teacher took him to the hospital and
we picked him up. Major concussion - had to wake him every couple of hours
that night. Most parents know the drill.So I come home from work the next day and ask how Chris was. Caroline said
he was a the playground so I decided to walk over and see how he was
doing. They were playing ball and Chris was backcatching again - knot,
black eyes and all. So I snuck as close as I could without him seeing me
and I was watching his eyes when the batter swung. I expected him to blink
and was so impressed that he had even got back in there and was in the
proper position in his crouch - tight to the the batter.He didn't blink. Swing after swing. And when they got a hit he still beat
the kid to first base. I wouldn't have believed at that age he could take
a shot like that and be focused on catching the next day.It really defines both kids. Meghan is stubborn and there is no quit at
all. Chris is just plain ol' tough. -

phsycological advantage that seems to work. My kid is bigger then me now
but I can still get him down no sweat.I remember my best buddy in high school was a big oaf that mostly won
all his street fights because he could take a hit even better than he
could give them, which was pretty good. His kid brother however, was way
faster and by far tougher, but whenever the two of them went at it the
older brother always came out the better. This was the case with almost
all the brothers I knew that were close enough in age they scrapped often. -
