That factory in China had better get its output ramped up. Noticed in
yesterday's press interview that Prince William fiddled around with his
wrist much in the manner of his father, except it wasn't a shirt cuff he was
fiddling with but a yellow Livestrong wristband, which no doubt will
increase the craze and all of its copy cat schemes still further. Now our
local schools are making blue anti-bullying bands! Pity that Lance and
cycling don't seem to be getting any increased publicity on the back of the
wristbands. Maybe when "Sports Personality of the Year" comes out. Lance
will be a shoo-in for the overseas title again.
Just back from our new Waitrose where I bought some of the new veggie Bovril
for research purposes. I was a drinker of the original stuff in the 60's
+70's when I used to stand on the Boothferry Park terraces watching the
Tigers, so I was interested to see how the new stuff compares.
First thing was how expensive the Waitrose is. You can actually get a bag
of crisps made from blue spuds for 3 quid! Managed to pick up some Latvian
rye bread which was going out of date for 29p, down from 1-70. In fact, the
out of date stuff at half price was probably what I'd pay willingly anyway.
Oh yes, about the Bovril. I can't tell any difference with the smell or the
taste except it seems a tiny bit more salty and the appearance seems
smoother. I think the original had sort of floating meaty bits in. Other
than that it's more or less the same.
