I have not ridden in about two weeks.. I am getting [censored] at myself because I have been spending too much time at work. It is starting to get dark sooner, and when I finally find moments I could ride it is raining..... aaargh!
I need to get an excercise bike or a trainer or something.

Sometimes when school/work/schoolwork gets too much I end up running instead, it doesn't take as much time, and in general its alittle easier for me to just put on some shoes and shorts, and go. the most important thing is that you get out there and do something
I've had a cold and it's frustrated me. Kept me from riding well for a good 5-6 days, and now I'm slowly getting back into it. Kinda messed up my routine. Anybody know the protocol on riding while sick? I tried a short ride on one of the days, but didn't know how hard I could push it without making myself worse.
ive been sick for the past week as well. havent ridden.
i finally said screw it! and went for a good 35miler yesterday. I was really congested so i blew more snot-rockets than usual, lol, but that's about it. I just HAD to break a sweat. I personally think that it's all mental. If you think it wont effect you it wont. I actually think that breaking a sweat was really good for me. I feel better, mentally.
all in all, just be sure to rest way MORE.
but to the threadstarter, heh, run in the rain so you wont have to clean your bike off and re-oil it. Get wet, it's good for you. some of my best runs are when it's raining.

I made the mistake of racing with a sinus infection. I did awful and it made it a ton worse, I was off school for 4 days, and previous to the race I barely noticed it. I'm sure your not going to push that hard, but a few days of easier rides is better than making it worse and not riding at all for longer.
I read on this very forum that if the cold is in your head, then your ok to ride, but if its in your chest then you should take it easy. of course these are just general guidelines but it at least sounds like sound advice.
I've been there, Jedi. Just kik in the self discipline and do it, in light rain, get a light (real light) for early morn or eve riding. Commute. U must prevail.......cycling is a life long endevour, just like God is....

I am also running sometimes instead of riding depending on the weather condition. It also a way to get more exercise in less time than riding since you are using more muscles to move yourself forward.
Exercise bike is a great option but we all know the outdoors is so much more fun and excitement. Be sure to figure out and make plans towards getting back out there. Don't be mad at yourself. You can do it.
I know the feeling. I've decided to spend at least an hour every day riding my bike, regardless of circumstances. My work schedule isn't so incredibly tight that I can't take some time off during the day. I just try to avoid evening riding as that can be dangerous in my area.
