Presta Valve help please

Presta. Unscrew the little knurled knob at the top of the valve a few mm
then attach your pump and start pumping. I find it sometimes helps to break
the valve seal before attaching the pump by briefly pressing the knob on
the valve.

A track pump means you don't care about losing air when you break the seal cos its so easy to replace PLUS you have a builtin pressure gauge.

If it has a little knurled screw assembly on top, it's a
Presta. Schraders have a larger diameter shaft with a little pin in the
middle. Personally, I prefer Prestas as you can run highwer pressures in
them.

Ridiculous. I've had an air tank rated at 250 psi for about 30 years.
It still holds pressure. It's filled through a Schrader valve.

The nitrogen reservoir on my motorcycle rear shock is at 250 psi, it's a
schrader.
The positive chamber on my rear MTB air shock is at 230 psi and it
compresses to around 1/5th it's volume raising the pressure to around 1150
psi. It's a schrader and it doesn't leak.

Schraders have the advantage of being able to release pressure through a
guage to set pressure better. The marginal pressure loss from connecting a
pump to a schrader is a little annoying.

The only advantage I can see to a presta is that they are narrower. I've
found rims are usualy heavier opposite the valve (from the join) so there's
no need to save any weight there.

I'd happily change back to schrader but all my bikes are presta and I
couldn't be bothered changing all the tubes.
