What does everyone do before and after their rides?
I'm pretty new to cycling so i was just wondering how to warm-up and cool-down from rides long and short.

Before: eat something, (amount depends on expected ride distance) drink some gatorade, and use the restroom.
After: eat something (amount depends on actual ride distance) drink some gatorade, and take a shower. (maybe use the restroom, too)
Pretty exciting stuff, I know. Hope that helps somehow.

Ok, sounds like what i've been doing.
What about stretching and stuff?
-
No stretching for me. I try to spin in an easy gear for several minutes at the beginning of a ride (until the knees stop popping) before dropping the hammer. I may cruise an extra lap around the block at the end just to let the breeze cool me off, but this is by no means a strict part of the routine.
-
pre: Wake up, brush teeth, stretch out, fill up water bottle with 1/2 water 1/2 gatorade. Ride easy for about 5-10 minutes get warmed up around the block, drop the hammer and go for my daily ride.
Replenish fluids while stretching, shower, eat breakfast go to work.
-
Before the ride: Dream of breaking the 30 mile barrier.
After the ride: Collapse on the living room floor panting and begging for mercy
