  1. Ok just after some praise really.

Just did a 10 mile ride for the first time in about 2 years. Computer data says max speed 27.1
mph and an average of 15.6mph how does this rate in terms of joining a club, my closest would
seem to be the westbury wheelers. Is this enough to warrant further investigation into the club
or will i need to do a few more rides yet? When I finished I wasn't really out of breath just had
a bit of pain on my left hand side just at the bottom of the ribcage towards the front and a bit
of pain in the lowerback, but after about 5 mins it has gone. So any pointers from my above
    comments. Cheers Michael

Pretty flat, any suggestions on the causes of the pain.

That's not bad at all. Once you can do 20 miles you'll be fine in a club.

At CTC ride will be a fair be slower than rate (13.x mph in my experience) but will be longer (say
60 miles for the shorter ones). If you can do 20 miles faster you'll be fine with the longer ride
    since there'll be tea stops.

A stitch. Since you were obviously pushing yourself hard and your body isn't used to it yet.

Now then, I know what a stitch is, but I don't know what a stitch *is*, if you get my meaning.
Anyone actually tell me what's happening in your body to cause a stitch? Why do we get pain in that
    particular spot?

"They" are not sure. There seem to be two theories.

I have certainly had stitches which seemed related to exercising too soon after eating. I also seem
to get them if I daydream while running, not sure what that's about.

There are fuller explanations out there is you google stitch and exercise.

A cramp in the diaphragm. The diaphragm has various things connected to it and up and down motion,
as well as heavy breathing, stresses
it. The liver is the biggest thing attached to the diaphragm and it's on the right - so stitches are
    more common on the right.

My liver must be on the left....
