How do you set the smoothing on the Powertap head,and does it affect the actual recording of the unit (IE) does it miss any infomation.

Easier to set smoothing using Power Agent than button clicking. As Alex said, not effect on data recording.

It's just a CPU set up function that is easily checked by reading the manual freely available on the Saris website.
