Powertap 2.4 Experience

Just in case anyone wonders if any of the 2.4s work, mine does. I have two months worth of rides with no dropouts. I occasionally see some ratty HR data (too high) but it is very infrequent and obvious (because if my HR was really 250 I'd be dead). I do not have the crank based cadence sensor, I just use the hub data. As discussed on a number of other threads, that means that you sometimes have some ratty cadence data.

Luckily the power data looks clean and consistent. I only use the hub in warm, dry weather, which, for me, is nearly all the time.

Glad to hear that there are some out there working as advertised. My 2.4 just showed up yesterday, but I am heading out of town this afternoon, so the real world testing will have to wait a week. I'm just up the coast in HB, where it is usually warm and dry also. ;)

its funny you should mention the HR thing-I've only won mine a couple of time but I occasionally get rides where I show some HR-without the strap;furthermor I too am really annoyed that I get so much raw data dropped-I got mine from comp.cyclist in december so its probably from the old batch.Do I really need to try and replace the batteries or should I send it in before I get any further into my season?

I wouldn't waste the time and money experimenting with new batteries. If you've had data drops from the start, call Saris, get an RA#, and send it back.

I agree. Having now tried mine with all new batteries (hub, CPU, HR strap), riding without the strap, and re-learning the CPU to hub connection, that's what I'll be doing today. Why Saris doesn't just recommend that at the start to avoid wasting time and their customers' money for batteries is beyond me. I'm not sure I have seen anyone posting that new batteries were the solution.
