like I'm 70 years old. After any one of my powerlifting workouts, I
feel like I'm 20. Damn those hills can be grueling.
I have clubs (that my dad gave me), but I don't play. I'd like to learn
someday. But I'd like to take lessons so I don't develop the infamous "bad
habits" of which all golfers speak.
When I took up golf, I studied everything I could get my hands on.
Read books, watched the golf channel, etc. Pretty much everyone's
advice was to take lessons. I still haven't but am thinking about
doing so.
When you think about spending $60-100 on lessons, it's actually quite
cheap when you think about all of the thousands of balls you may end
up hitting at the range to try to perfect your swing. You'll still
want to hit a lot of balls over the course of a season but you will be
that much more ahead with the lessons. Even Tiger has a coach (Butch
Harmon).
But, if it's a choice between never getting around to playing because
of never taking lessons and going out and taking your lumps, I'd go
out and take my lumps. It's a great game you can play well into your
twilight years and it's great exercise and it doesn't need to be
expensive (if the course allows walking, you can get by real cheap at
some courses). I see lots of families out on the course.
