Don't knock for this. Lots of other companies do the same thing. They even
charge an arm and a leg. I am amazed that people pay lots of money for
water than is no better than what I can get out of my faucet.

My friend's mtb team was title-sponsored by Powerade, but he himself
wouldn't drink it because a listed ingredient was, I think, "ester of
wood rosin" which we all agreed sounded dire. I wonder if it's still
in there.

I thought esters were what gave it particular odors. Even if I'm
right, I'd have to wonder what they are tryig to mask with the smells

The ``Organic`` scam is another hoax. Without wanting to argue the pros and
cons of what actually is organic or what organic really means, much
``Organic`` produce actually comes out of the same box as the Regular produce

A friend used to work at Dow Chemical, Co. as a summer intern (read:
grunt work) clearing methyl cellulose from some processing plant (they
didn't make it there to sell, but to perfect the process, since they
were in the business of selling or leasing facilities to make such
substances) he had to shower after his shift and felt like he'd been
slimed. The stuff added to water does make a pretty good slime.

well as Gatorade.

I find Powerade too treacly to drink straight from the bottle without
dilution or a supplemental water bottle. I haven't used Gatorade, but
the SISU Hydrade I use is a similar hydration beverage, which I can
drink it as easily as water, but I seem to be less likely to cramp
(we're talking anecdotal levels of evidence here, though).

Full disclosure: my team has a sponsorship arrangement with SISU, so
while I do like it, I also have a good reason to like it 🙂.
