Power Tap reinstall with pics.

Is the tape to help cushion the wires from the zip-ties? I've seen several complaints of those flimsy wires breaking due to zip-ties being sinched too tight. Personally, I just use the tape without the zip-ties.

Yes-I figure its cheap insurance from abrasion and electrical tape is tough. I thought about taping the wires, but on that huge downtube I figured two black zipties would be cleaner looking. I might tape the wires on the underside of the tube from bottom to top-havent decided yet.

OH-btw the new pick-up is much closer to the magnet and it read smoothly from 0 to 160+ rpm instead of cutting out like it had been then catching up, then falling short...

I find the tape on the frame tubes gets a bit clogged with [censored] especially on the edges but my bike ain't black and maybe I'm using the wrong sort of tape. When I get my new track frame it will be black though.....

Once I switched to using a rare earth magnet on the crank, the cadence sensor has been fine. Before then it would be so sensitive to being "perfectly" placed.

that solved my cadence sensor probs too... i also use one on my wheel for the days when i'm not using the PT hub... that was even worse than the cadence sensor 1mm this way or that way and it wouldn't work.. but the rare earth magnets are so strong it it could literally be inches away and it would work just fine.

Awesome about the REM's. I tried using my normal rear wheel but the way my hub pick-up is (on the chainstay) I can barely make it come within a cm to the magnet so it didnt pick-up anything of course. So I have left my normal cyclocomputer hardware on my front fork just in case. Maybe now I can remove that too!! I just like a clean uncluttered bike. I dont even like a saddle bag!! I just fill my pockets of my jersey.
