Damn right, islandboy. If this had been directed at a section of the community because of their skin colour, as opposed to because they ride bikes, then everyone would be up in arms. It seems that society considers it perfectly acceptable to hate cyclists and be upfront about it, despite the fact that we're using the most ethical, efficient and green form of transport ever invented.

I guess the "Shepard" (does the thicky idiot mean Shepherd, or is he really the first American in space?) is just jealous, 'cause he doesn't know how to have any fun, and there's no love in his life. Poor sod.

Big love to all my fellow cyclists - keep on riding the Valley! (with a smile on your face and a song in your heart) 😄

The Valley referred to is along the "Galloping Goose Multiuse Trail" here in Victoria, BC, Canada. We have had a few high profile cases involving road rage towards cyclists over the last year. I thought I would provide the cycling community the opportunity to respond directly to the local media. It is one thing to publish a story or a letter to the editor; but entirely different when you take cash to promote anger against a (traffic) minority. I for one feel a response is warrented.

I ride along there all the time. Pity, that people can't be more mature.

I was thinking an offensive of emails to the paper in question. To do notning is to condone the editors approach. We need to be heard.
