post tour depression

Personally I can't wait to not be tired everyday, be able to get up and
do a decent ride in the morning rather than just dragging myself out of
bed in time to get to work just on time.

The tour is great but the routine has taken its toll, sick last week
and slept through 1/2 of the time trial and couldn't even remember
anything other than Gonchar winning when I woke up.....

Two questions:
1, Judging by the voice over, WA, SA etc got almost as much live
telecast as eastern states but missed out on Gabriel Gate and Mike
Tomalaris. Was that the case. Should we all move state for next year?

2, Is the team Time trial out for good or was it just this year?

At least on previous stages they made an effort to race.
That was what made it interesting to watch

And thank FC that LA has retired. Previous years with every sentence
containing L this , L that were totally boring.

The last stage is always a procession until the crit at the end. Was

I have to agree. Was the lack of excitement this year due to the live
telecasts? Since SBS started broadcasting the half-hour highlights, it
has been the year's best television. My son even won a public speaking
competition with an hilarious account of the ructions in my family, due
to the ritual of avoiding all news for the day and watching the
highlights. I miss not knowing what happened until the SBS highlights.
Every year will still mean getting close to divorce in July, but now it
will be from my sleep-deprived crankiness, rather than insistence on
ritual and quiet for a half hour.

He trained with Ferrari. Not that that constitutes any proof of
anything against the rules though. It was an (apologies to Paul S!)
unbelievable recovery though. Reminiscent of Hamilton in '03 when he
escaped and no-one could pull him back, but Hamilton hadn't spend the
previous day blown to pieces. It takes days to rebuild totally
depleted glycogen stores, and Landis had definatly bonked the day
before (and how!). Maybe he's just a freak? Either way, it was an
incredible thing.

Yeah, but it was instant gratification, rather than 24 hours of
anticipation ... capped further by being buggered and bad mood from not
riding in the mornings.

Post-Tour predictions

- Trek bikes being dumped as they are slow and so 1999 ...
- to a lesser extent, Specialized bikes being dumped as no one wants to
ride as slow as Leipheimer (I'll keep my aluminium S-Works, thank you,
as it was Cippolini's aluminium model and Levi's current carbon model)
- Giant TT bikes to be the time trial bike of choice
- an increase in sales of BMC bikes
- more people riding with their forearms resting on the top of the
handlbars with hands clapsed together

I don't see the following happening though ...
- more sales of IShares "does my butt look big in this" knicks
- more cyclists wearing white King of the Mountain knicks
- cyclists wearing the 3M nose strips (hello, 1996 just called and it
wants those nose strips back)
- Ullrich to ride for "Bianchi" next year ...

More startled looking kids on the podium and everyone holding a baby
with measles-spots jumpsuits on while trying to put on a jersey?
Would it have been bad to laugh if Rasmussen dropped his kid on the
ground? It might have distracted Tomalaris and Rupert such that we
might have heard some of the riders themselves!

Almost a lap of honour, although it's not the lap. Well it is really,
a lap of Paris.

I actually forgot about that from lastyear until I tuned in last
night.

I bought Phil/Paul's comments about "ok, the heartburn from the
champagne has probably gone now". I don't know how you drink and
ride.
