Not to put too fine an edge on the comment...

Have you considered the idea of parking where you won't have to worry
about this issue?

That said, consider yourself lucky that the chain was wimpy the first
time. If you carry a cutter that's capable of snipping the wimpy
chain, it may work *once*. I can just about guarantee that the
second time, you'll be up against a thicker, tougher chain...and
there's likely to be surveillance watching to see who's the perp
that's been destroying their chains.

This is just about certain to be an escalating conflict. The only way
to win is not to play.

48" boltcutters work well on most chains but if your trailer is big
enough you may want to consider a good quality 16v chopsaw with a
metalcutting blade. Of course, *next* time those killjoys might lock
your bike- trailer and all- inside of a building so you should probably
invest in a good set of lockpicks and the training to use them. There
could be video surveillance of the building so be sure your lockpicking
class includes a section on disabling video surveillance cameras.
Alternatively, you could just lock your bike where you can do so
legally.
