  1. So far I've lost 12.5 pounds in 3.5 weeks. First two weeks I did a
pretty much by-the-book version of Atkins Induction, now I'm "rolling
my own" plan. What I do is basically just keep my carbs under 50-90 per
day. I run 3-5 times a week for 3-4 miles at a time. I'm emphasizing
salads, I'm going slow with nuts and berries, and following the rule of
"eating until satisfied, but not stuffed." Also I've cut out eating
after dinner for the most part. I have about 40 pounds to go.

My question is pork. I've found I love it. Ham, pork rinds, bacon,
kielbasa, I find that nearly every time I need a meat dish in my diet,
I go for pork (distant second being chicken, and seafood being dead
    last).

Otherwise I think my plan is going pretty well.

Whats the deal with my affinity for pork? Should I try to change it?
    I really like my pork. I'm weird I guess - I really haven't gotten
tired of bacon and eggs in the morning... my typical breakfast is five
slices of bacon, two eggs, and a fried tomato (plus plenty of water and
coffee to wash down my supplements).

    Whaddaya all think?

  3. Be careful with any kind of sausages, check for fillers that might contain
carbs. And watch out for sugars in bacon, etc. Otherwise, pork is great.

  4. Yeah, I've been watching out for sugars. I just am not particularly
militant about it... I was freaking out about dextrose earlier on in my
plan, but it didn't seem to hinder my ability to lose weight, so I
    stopped worrying about it.

  5. I'm not militant about it either, I was merely pointing out that a lot of
pork products have additives that will add carbs if you don't pay
attention. Ham and bacon are the worst offenders, but I do eat them and
have found some in my local grocery store that use very small amounts of
maple so that the carbs are kept very low.

  6. Yeah. I really tried hard to find a butcher shop that would stock
no-carb bacon, but I gave up after a while. Now I just hold to the rule
of buying bacon that has no added brown sugar, sugar, or maple... I
allow dexrose, as long as the sugar count is still listed as zero
    grams...

I live in a real podunk town unfortunately. In about three months I'm
moving to the Marina District of San Francisco... at that point I
should have three Whole Foods' within walking distance of me.

  7. Pork is my favorite meat, too. And, except for the bacon, most pork,
like loin, is not all that loaded with fat.

BTW, have you tried the turkey Italian sausage? You absolutely cannot
tell they're NOT real pork Italian sausage. Im serious---they're
fabulous. You might consider having one of those with breakfast instead
of the bacon...? CAUTION: they have 175 calories each, compared to what,
about 1oo per slice of bacon? So, you would save calories,. BUT they
have 7 g of carb. So, you'd have to juggle your carb count to make up
    for it.

There is new product called Fry it Right that allows you to fry
anything including pork with zero net carbs, makes even pork good for
you, go www.fryitright.com and check it out.

Plain fried pork, with no brading, has no carbs anyway.

You appear to have deferred intelligence.

    Ko,

  9. You should use yours too. Isn't it funny how that always happens when
you're chastising someone else for their spelling?

    KO,

I will forgive your bad manners for now and ask you once again to check
out this amazing product. It has been approved by the Glycemic Research
Institiute for LOW-CARB/LOW GLYCEMIC and found to be Diabetic friendly.
They have certified us to use their seals of approval.

If you are so narrow minded that you won't even explore the options
that are now available; I recommed that you continue to eat the bland
un-imaginative diet that got you where you are today.
Good Luck with your low carb diet.

filters, so maybe he's not used to correcting his spelling.
