  1. It's days like this, blue skies, sun, light warm breeze that make it a sheer
joy to be out on the bike. I had to go into Dereham today, so I took the
scenic route via various back lanes and it was a joy. Green hedgerows,
bumblebees buzzing, birdsong in the air.. makes my soul sing. Indeed, I
think I have a need to be out there again.

    Cheers, helen s

Wot Simon said. Also they tell us that there will be
own-personal-Glasto-stylee thunderstorms at home time. Why couldn't that be
tomorrow when I shall instead be celebrating Uncle Marvo's birthday in a
    Thee Pubbe?

    Bah!

They came for Eamonn Holmes; I think I'm right in saying that I
    applauded.

I can plead that it was a valid work-related journey - I needed to post the
VAT return! I do, however, have the best boss in the world, as she allows me
to take the scenic route ;-)

I had a nice pootle in to work yesterday, no point hurrying on the way in is
there. A large part of my commute is in the countryside and the sound of nature
can be quite relaxing in between the 'orrible swooshing noises made by cars 'n
    stuff.

During a lull in the traffic I was getting carried away by the tranquility when
I suddenly found myself face to face with a POB coming the other way. I shouted
"Get over to the other side you idiot" (Weak I know, but there was no time to
rehearse good lines) and received two fingers and a grunt for my trouble.

Cycling the wrong way is not a good idea at the best of times, but doing it on a
70 mph dual carriageway strikes me as bl**dy suicidal.

Immediately after that the traffic started swooshing again and the brief moment
of being at one with nature had gone. I wonder if the young POB managed to get
    to wherever he was going?

Well I went out again :-) Nathan was late at college today & as he's having
a rest week from the bike, he required collection. So Vernon & I went up in
Herman the German with Luigi in the back of the car. Once at Fakenham,
Nathan got in car: Luigi & I got out. I cycled home on Luigi. It was lovely

Them woz this afternoon - I powered down lots of things just after 3.
Pretty puny compared to Thursday night's efforts, though still fun.

Tskkk. I was supposed to be working this morning, but a friend dropped
by on his bike, and it would have been rude not to have gone out with
him, wouldn't it? After all, it's going to rain some week soon. And I
    can work then.

We had a real cracker.....continuous flickering light and rumbles. No
chance to count the time between the flash and the rumble since both
were quasi continuous for the hour it lasted.

He needs to recover from his exploits in the Ipswich event?
I heard he was 2nd Junior?

I think the rain part was saving itself for this morning.

When the chap on the wireless forecast "scattered showers later" I
naively assumed he meant several hours later rather than the downpour
which started just as I got to about the mid-point of my commute[1].
One rather hairy descent[2] in traffic to Swiss Cottage later and I
remembered I had a rain cape in my bag, but was too wet to care by
    then...

I thought it was a nice touch when the rain stopped when I was about
    half a mile from work.

    Pete.
[1] Jack Straw's Castle, atop Hampstead Hill, which is probably
called something different now as it appears they are converting
it from a pub into some "tasteful" apartments.

[2] Nice and slippery... Locked the back wheel once when I misjudged
how hard the van in front was braking, which was fine except I could
hear the van behind me lock up his wheels too and had no idea if
he would stop in time. It all panned out OK and after I slithered
to a halt I looked round and we exchanged sheepish grins.

    2nd? That's not a thunderstorm, that's maternal bosoms heaving.
