Bloody stupid question. Why is the issue reduced to a binary? Personally, I
try to reduce my motor vehicle use, not necessarily eliminate it. For
example, I'll often drive part way to my destination and cycle the rest.
I'll use my bike when it will do the job, but I'll use my car when I have
to. That means I won't be ditching my car in favour of a bicycle. I'm forced
to answer 'no' simply because of the binary nature of the question ( I
answered 'yes', by the way, because I can't take such a silly poll seriously
anyway).

I can see some journo making claims that bicycle infrastructure is a waste
of money because 'polls show that drivers won't give up their cars for
bicycles' - a claim based on a bloody stupid question.

Oooh! I get so frustrated with this thinking, especially when taking in a
range of responses is considered wooly thinking and binaries are clear and
favoured. Happens too often because we're too lazy to think outside the
yes-no box.

Would I give up 'my' car for a bike?

My answer would be 'no'.

I mean how am I suppose to lung all my stuff out to Redesdale for the 24 hour or take my nonna up to mum & dads place for the weekend with a bicycle?
