  1. I've tried several times the last two weeks to register for the pinkbike.com
forum. After submitting my info, it just goes to a blank page. Anyone else
have this problem? Or a solution! It's just not working for me, and I'd
love to register - I'd love to submit some posts and it's rather
frustrating! Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hmmm, operator error maybe?

Thanks for posting the same thing three times. I finally got what you
meant the third time I read it.

Anyway, I think they are changing servers, give it a couple of weeks.

Have you considered trying the "Contact Us" link on pinkbike.com's
website. There it has the following entry:

    Website / Technical
    Karl Burkat
    email: [email hidden]

For future reference, I find the "Contact Us" link usually helpful in
just these types of issues. You'll want to tell them the usual info,
like the browser version you are running, the steps you took, etc.

I already tried emailing to that address (and a couple more feedback
addresses I found for pinkbike.com) over a week ago, but unfortunately I got
no response to any of my emails.

As for the suggestion that the problem is "user error": another friend of
mine is having the same problems registering on his computer.

Sorry about the triple post by the way - it didn't show up right away like
it normally does, so I figured it hadn't posted correctly. Anyway, my
    apologies for that!

  7. I just did a test-registration with no problem. In fact, it redirected
me to a page indicating that I had won a brand new Marzocchi fork for
being the 1 millionth registered user! Ok, maybe I made that last
    part up.

  10. Is someone willing to register for me then, seeing as it isn't working for
    me?

    - user ID for forum: dabombboy (if that doesn't work, pick another one, and
let me know via email what it is)
    - password for forum: (pick whatever, and email it to me)
    - my email: dabombboy @ despammed DOT com

Perhaps the fact this party chose to make 3 (or more) different posts to
this NG is an indication of the source of the problem?

I can appreciate your scepticism, but I can assure you it was a genuine
mistake - I've posted to newsgroups on many occasions before and my posts
always showed up in Outlook Express immediately when I checked for new
headers. In this instance it hadn't appeared after more than 30 seconds
when I checked several times, so alas, I wrongly concluded it hadn't been
posted. I am not as technologically challenged as might first appear, but
nonetheless, once again I offer my sincere apologies for the triple post.
But back to the issue at hand, is there a kind soul willing to help me out
in registering for the forum at pinkbike.com?

The following page confirms that it is a problem with pinkbike.com:
    http://vpfree.pinkbike.com/bb/memberlist.php?mode=joindate&order=DESC&start=2300
This has evidently been a problem since August 18, 2004, and the last 2300+
people who registered have had the same thing as me - the registering
process isn't fully completed, but brings them to a blank profile page.
The system apparently records the chosen username, but doesn't send an
activation email, and so the last 2300 people who registered (including me),
haven't been able to post to the forum (hence total posts = 0 for all these
    users).

Have a look again a little more closely. The users you mention are all from
August 17th. I stated that the problem began on August 18th. Scroll
through the pages (eg page 92, 91, 90 etc) of dates from this point onwards,
and all those users from August 18th and onwards have 0 posts.

    You caught me.

I don't give a damn about who does or does not post on pinkbike. I don't
even care about your problem. I confess my only interest in this thread was
who was gonna make fun of the fact that you want to call yourself 'da bomb
boy'. When no one else did, I could not stand it any longer and used any
pretext - fair or unfair - to mock you on that point myself.

    Mea culpa.
