Or anyone else who knows about fabrics. Is there a life expectancy after which tech fabrics can't shed odor? I've been using three Zoic tees for a few years and they're great, never pill, never ripped, washed clean in the sink with woolite and never smelled. Lately they all have been clinging to a funk that I can't get rid of. Just came back from a third wash where I put detergent right on the worst parts and they still smell like a locker room.

Not a fabric expert here. Pre-soaking my skinky stuff in Oxyclean helps a lot. You do need to test the fabric because some stuff will run.
I also hate buying expensive jerseys unless they're on sale. Usually swing by Ross's and pick up Nike, Reebok other sportwear that are NOT made of cotton at $10 a pop.

You can try an OxyClean pre-soak, as jack suggested. You can also try soaking in white vinegar, or turning the jersey inside out and saturating the armpit area with Shout before laundering. Or all of the above (they should be safe for your usual sports polyesters). You could also try hosing it down with Febreeze (fabric-specific destinkifier).

Febreze is amazing. I had a wrist brace that covered the palm. It stunk up my entire room at one point. A good saturation with Febreze made it all go away. I used it for a while after spraying, and it never went bad after treatment! -- Phil, Squid-in-Training
