    Terrible.

Yer man doing the tailwhip (which, from that picture, he
looks like he has no chance of pulling) has a singlespeed setup, a gyro /
oryg and pegs! FFS, just bite the bullet and buy a bmx!

Why do the two guys jumping the box need about 8" of travel when they can
only get about 1' of air?!

    And heel-clickers are for gimps.

I watched a film on the Extreme channel which demonstrates a similar
thing. There seems to be a whole thing of rating "mountain bikers" for
doing jumps and tricks, when in reality, they're just pulling off basic
bmx moves (usually poorly). Go down a skate park on a bmx evening and
you'll see young kids on $200 bikes, with a load more talent and much
    better moves.

    Rant over.

    Right on man.

  7. Besides the pics don't do it justice. The jump that looked like 1' of air
is a 5'5" tabletop that is 18' long and they were not at the apex when the
pic was snapped. They were up around 8' at the apex (bottom of wheels).
That is what I typically get on a 48 pound bike! Infact that jump is the
perfect handclap, x-up jump. I will have some of my own pics in a couple
days, another big ride is happening on Thursday!

I mean come on I would like to see some of the critics come out and ride ;-)
I really doubt they would even hit the smaller stuff 6' drop or the smaller
10' double or the double teeter or the teeter that rotates 60 degrees as it
falls or... the 12' step up hip jump. But hey surprise me! We are just
    into having fun.

No why do you ask? I would love to meet new people regardless of whether
they can or cannot ride circles around me. It is all about having fun but
after riding some serious DH in Sweden, Whistler/Seattle and Snowshoe (WV) I
would be willing to bet that the "crankypants sycophants" who criticize so
vehemently aren't really good tech riders. I know that Pete F. is a true
rider that can pull off way more than XC but of course you don't see him
    criticizing.

Critics? I don't think that saying there is a difference between that
indoor place and actual mountain biking is criticizing. When you look
at the pictures you get more of a BMX feel than even FR. I think those
guys would have had just as much "fun" in a Vans park that is open to
bikes a couple night s week. They do exist.

I prefer *not* jumping off of any piece of wood onto a concrete floor.
I value my aging bones way too much. If that's what you like, then more
power to you, but please do not call it mountain biking. I know we've
been through this already but those pics really prove it's not MTB.

I watched a short clip of JD riding over a boulder on a SS. It was seamless,
flawless, and smooth. He blew a theory of mine away, that smaller riders
have an advantage, over taller. JD is 6'7".

I am an XC rider only, and intermediate on good days. I still have fun.

Not saying it IS mtbiking... but check out the
http://www.mountainbikemichigan.com/ pics here. It definetly is FR and/or
north shore related. Hey there is like a foot of snow here I am just happy
to be able to have fun and ride regardless of the crappy reality of where I
    live. That is the point.

I am not saying cleveland is a great place, it is not EVEN 2nd class to
Boston, Seattle, San Fran.. yada yada maybe more like 5th class. If I could
I would be living in Copenhagen. Ya maybe not what you think of as a mtbike
town but as far as my work goes and it's location to quite a few serious
mountain ranges (within a days drive or euro-rail) and the Fjords you
wouldn't believe what that part of Europe has to offer.

I will be in Cleveland for a few more years but not forever and I have lived
in may other US cities too. But for now I am enjoying what I can AND I have
a point of reference what the north shore/whistler riding is all about.
    Ray's isn't that far off.

I am intermeadiate when it come to FR. I haven't dropped bigger than 16' or
so. DH I am OK at there really wasn't anything I haven't been able to ride
down, just real slow. I am progressing quite a bit but to me it is all
about taking it slow and having fun and Ray's is fun.

hehehehe... Just for your info, Bomba came from a strong BMX background.
He also used to ride DH. There was a pic of him somewhere hucking a pretty
huge cliff on a hardtail or BMX bike awhile back. His brother also races
DH in Expert or above class.

Trust me, there's nothing at Ray's that would make him raise an eyebrow.

I have a friend at work that is a old time XC rider. He has no desire to
ever own DH rig, but ya know what... Anytime I need a little humbling
session because I "think" I'm doing well, DH wise, I go ride with him.
He'll kick my ass on every single DH section, doesn't matter how technical.

You'd be very surprised how well those "non-tech XC riders" can ride,
    uphill and on the DH's.

But you just didn't keep your mouth shut eh?! Seriously there is no way ANY
rider on a rigid or HT could outride even a begginer (whistler A-line) on
say a Turner DHR with triple clamp forks unless they just plain s*#$ed a$$

C'mon man you know it is true.

A few years ago I would've agreed with you. After seen many a rider on a
Evil with a Shiver, or something similar, up at Big Bear, it blew my mind
what is possible on a HT.

You should really seek out other riders that don't ride what you ride or
where you ride, and expand your mind.

And for the record, I do suck azz.

  17. I actually know scott and have ridden with him down in Snowshoe WV. He is
being modest. Some people here are such jag off's. Ray's is kick ass give
me a break people... talk is cheap.

Nobody said he couldn't do the jumps and drops. I'm the first to admit
    I wouldn't. It's Ray's that is the problem. I just don't get it. It's
me and I'll take the blame. I just don't get the whole idea of setting
up a glorified indoor skate park for bikes, especially in an area that
is not that bad in the winter. I went to college in Ohio, I know what
the winters were like. I don't think there would be half the BS if the
stuff was built outside. I haven't seen oo many posts here badmouthing
northshore or even Snowshoe. JMO, take it or leave it. I don't care.

What that a single speed HT could beat a mediocre rider down Whistler
    A-line?! Ha ha rotflmao.

And to what Slacker said about an Evil with triple clamp Shiver forks... ya
I'd like to see that Bomba dude or Mr. "2 wheels up and off" ha ha post some
pics or videos of some real skilled riding. Oh he "was so smooth over a
boulder". Come on out to Snowshoe you a$$ and we will see how you do on a
    couple milk truck sized boulders!

Gimme a break there is no way some old BMX dude on a singlespeedHT/rigid
ANYTHING could beat any real DH rider and DH bike down any real DH run.
Prove me wrong. I am driving up to ray's from Atlanta and will be there
from Feb 2 to feb 15. You guys are saying it is nothing then prove it. Oh
and to you XC people I will beat you on a 53# bike too!
