The tomatos were vine ripened, cut in half, seasoned with salt and pepper,
both sides seared in a red hot fry pan, then placed on a tray in a hot oven
and topped with fresh basil. By the time I'd finished cooking the bacon,
mushrooms and eggs, and toasting the sourdough, the tomatos were done to
perfection :-)
There were leftovers and they were used by me for a late brunch
sandwich..... which ticked the pooch off no end, as she usually gets the
leftover breakfast :-)

I hate when I break a yolk. These days bread looks like methadone to
a junkie when you're me. Funny, but my son is trying to tune my 12-
string to "make it sound better"
No bread for me. I did have a little flour coating on the chicken
drumsticks I fried.
Bad Bryan, carbs.

LOL!!
If you've got a boat, send a picture of the boat and we'll talk about it
:-)
But that aside......... doesn't your SO cook for you?

BTW, which Island are you? North or South?
We've actually just started discussing taking a holiday over there......
seeing as most of your compatriots are over here!!
LOL!! I even gave the SO a choice of places to move to when we finally
settle down....... Tassie, or NZ.
Without hesitation she said Tassie!! :-)
I have quite a few Kiwi friends in my neck of the woods at the moment and
they all rave about how lovely it is over there (and the pictures I see of
the place are quite nice).

Yum!
Tonight, as I had a whole lump of mince to use...... I made rissoles.
500g minced meat
1 cup chopped basil
1 small red onion, finely diced
1/2 cup chopped (Italian) parsley
1/2 cup grated cheese
salt'n pepper
Mix it all together in a bowl, and make into rissoles..... as big, or as
small as you want.
Fry as you would a steak (I like my rissoles medium rare..... and when
you use *good* mince, you can do this!!)........
and serve with either roasted garlic potato mash and steamed veges......
or some crisp mescalun and fresh tomato slices topped with some ripped
basil leaves and some baby bocinccini.
[Sigh!! The SO has cornered the leftovers *again* to take to work for
lunch........ looks like I have to forage for my own!!)
BTW, I've used the above recipe, and then (because we were having the
roasted garlic mash) after cooking the risoles, add some butter to the
pan, scraping all the 'juices'n dark bits' into the sauce....... add a
good splotch of Worcestishire(?) sauce, a half a handful of some chopped
fresh parsley, and a good dollop of cream.
Rissoles with a Diane sauce :-)

I'm trying to lose weight here, and pictures like that are positively
inhumane. Sooooooo good, and soooo chock full of calories! Breakfast
for me is one serve of cereal with 1% milk, and a non-fat yoghurt or a
banana. Satisfying and nutritious, but not nearly as delicious as a
fryup!

OTOH, I cannot eat a soft egg. I always have them broken ("over

Yeah, same as the SO, she prefers 'hockey pucks', I like 'em soft and
runny!!
Got her to the stage where she can have the yolk *just* cooked, without
incinerating it.
