  1. Not sure if it's been mentioned on here already, but I know there are
a few folk on here into their cameras (and plenty who are sick to
    death of photography threads)...

Anyway, for those that aren't aware, Canon are launching a new digital
SLR in April. The Canon EOS 350D is a big improvement on the 300D
with a cracking price tag (£799 with standard 18-55 EF-S lens). Will
be available for cheaper than that at various online stores.

8 megapixel, improved sensor, DIGIC II processor, and various other
features currently only available on their top-spec models. USB2
connectivity, quicker writing to card time, smaller and lighter than
the 300D (particularly useful for walkers!), mirror lock up (without
having to change the firmware!), 2nd curtain flash, three focus modes:
One-Shot AF, AI SERVO and AI Focus. Also features the monochrome mode
that is on the EOS 20D. Improved image quality over the 300D: reduced
noise across all ISO settings, and an improved Precision Matte
focusing screen for a brighter viewfinder (one of my pet-hates with
the 300D was the dull viewfinder).

  2. Yep, you're right, sick to death of photography threads.

No dis-respect intended, but isn't there a newsgroup specifically for
    photography, digital or otherwise?

If there is, how would it be taken if i started a thread on walking up
Ben Nevis (or any other hill or low level walk) without mentioning
    cameras or photography once ......

    Rant over :-)

Well if that doesn't bring him back then nothing will :-)

But, you saw the PHOTO in the subject, so what did you open the message for?

  5. Oh god, please, no ..........

I can see the post already .......

"tested this as part of the February project, sitting under a
waterfall in an Argos pro-action tent (See previous 874 threads)
whilst verfiying my location with a widget mark 5 GPS,
    blah-di-blah-di-blah ....... "

Just when I thought it was safe to start frequenting this NG again
    ......

and with any luck the 300D will be available for a knock down price
from shops getting rid of old stock or users upgrading to the new one
    :-)

No, the trap is too obvious.

We don't want him back. We forbid him from coming back!

As Richard said, there was a rather obvious hint in the title. I even
shouted it so that intolerant folk like yourself wouldn't be so
offended (unless they chose to open the message anyway, force
themselves to read it, and then be offended to the point of replying
    with a rant).

And anyway, I did mention walking: "smaller and lighter than
the 300D (particularly useful for walkers!)"

Seconded, I miss the forthright, experienced views of Paul Saunders.
Furthermore I miss the enthusiastic, shopaholic Peewiglet, as well!
