  1. You newbies might be interested to know that Phil can still ride a bike. I
saw a clip where one of the crew lost his lunch trying to keep up with Phil.
Not sure how well Paul and Bob still ride.

Hey John, concerning the TT story: We started doing a very relaxed
sort of TT on our twice weekly evening ride. Once a month we will all
sign in with the timer and give our ETA. We have a mass start but
because of the differences in ability it soon sorts out. You aren't
supposed to use a timer or draft anyone. The rider who finishes
closest to his ETA is the winner.

This makes absolute time irrelevant save for the few who are
interested in how fast they can solo the rolly 20km.

How do you manage to know them only from time to time? (Do you
stop knowing them the rest of the time?)

  5. Phil heads up regular long distance rides in the UK ("Phil and Friends"😉 for
the CTC (the oldest cycling club in Britain at 100+ years) , of which he is
    chairman.
