Peugeot 10 Speed!!!

LOL...Thanks...I am a mountain biker though...I had just read in my cycling magazine a while back that old steel frame 10 speeds have been making a comeback in Europe and in the States as trainers. I saw a PX10 go for over $1,000 on ebay a few months ago so I saw this as an opportunity to make the original owner and I a quick buck. But I have to identify the bike first before I can put it on

I should just toss it but wouldn't that be sacriligious?

It depends what you want to do with the thing. Give a better description. Look underneath the bottom bracket for the serial number, they are usually stamped on there.

I want to sell it...I have looked at the bottom bracket and there are numbers there but it is very hard to read...I will try and do a rubbing or something to see if I can life the numbers...

Yes, the bike is all original. The frame is in great shape but the components need some work. Probably would be best to sell just the frame...

Sell the whole bike, and maybe be content with the price for just the frame.
A restorer of classic bikes will want to keep it as original as possible.

The PX10 was my first 10 speed back in the 70s until it was stolen. Last year I went on a quest to find a PX10 somewhere in my size. I found one finally on eBay. I changed the cables and brakes to more like the original. It should have a Brooks Saddle. You can find all these things on eBay or Craig's List. As for finding the exact year, it's not an exact science. Peugeot was a little lax. The metal decal on the bottom of the bike can give a clue. Here's a link that tells of it's history:

I updated the pedals to Look's, like my other bikes. I was tempted to update to Shimano ultegra shifters but didn't.
Don't update too much. Go retro as much as you can.
